About this painting

The prophet Elijah announced to Ahab: ’As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.” Subsequently the Lord told Elijah to hide at the Kerith Ravine. In a miraculous way the Lord provides Elijah’s food; every morning and evening the ravens bring him bread and meat. Elijah drinks water from the brook Kerith.
