Jesus anointed by a sinful woman

Luke 7:37-38

A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume.
As she stood behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

About this painting

Jesus had been invited to the house of a Pharisee, to have dinner with him. During the meal, a woman entered.
She was known as a sinful woman. She wetted Jesus’ feet with her tears, dried them with her hair, kissed His feet, and anointed them with precious ointment.

Jesus, knowing the thoughts of His host, told him a parable of two men who owed money to some rich moneylender.

At last Jesus says to Simon, the host:
"Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven, as her great love has shown.
But whoever has been forgiven
little, loves little".

Then Jesus said to her:
“Your sins are forgiven".
The act of the woman expresses her faith in Jesus, and her deep love and dedication to Him.
