About this painting

Genesis 12 describes God calling Abram to go to the land He would show him. God promised him ‘to make him into a great nation’. God repeats this promise in chapter 15, as He guarantees Abram: ‘a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.’ God took Abram outside and promised him offspring as numerous as the stars in the night sky. Then God made a covenant with Abram. In Galatians 3:14 we read that the blessing given to Abraham came to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus. So the promise of offspring to Abram points to Jesus, the Saviour. Genesis 15:6 ‘Abram believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness”.
