Full bible text

Genesis 3 verse 14 and 15
14 So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike His heel".

About this painting

Immediately after the fall God cursed the snake, but also took the initiative to restore the relationship with man by this promise:
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel".

In this symbolic painting ‘the offspring of the woman’ (Jesus) bruises the head of the snake (which is Satan).
This promise has been fulfilled by ‘the Son of Man’- Jesus -
on the cross on Calvary, - see the wounds in the heels - where He defeated Satan.
By following Jesus on the narrow road, - see left side of the painting - we will find eternal life; the broad way - see right - leads to death.
