About this painting

Immediately after being baptized by John the Baptist, Jesus is compelled by the Holy Spirit into the desert, to be tested, that means attacked by Satan. However, Jesus resisted Satan’s temptations; the snares of the devil did not touch Him.

Shortly thereafter Jesus commences the preaching of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.
He teaches in the synagogue of Capernaum.
While He is doing so, some unclean spirit manifests itself, screaming loudly.
On this occasion Jesus once more proves to have authority over the powers of Satan, and delivers the man from them.
